The Stories Behind Our Stories
Mister Mustache was a character created well over a decade ago by a grandmother for her young granddaughter. He was intended to be a nice but rather absent-minded man who would often do ordinary things in the wrong way. This gave her young listener an opportunity to laugh at his silly antics and interactively guide him on how he should properly do things instead.
All those years ago, the stories were recited aloud at bedtime, with no written materials or pictures of any kind—just the imaginations of the grandmother inventing them and the little girl absorbing them.
Today, however, Mister Mustache and a slate of precious supporting characters have been brought to life by a talented artist in books filled with colorful illustrations and humorous details perfectly designed for studying as each story unfolds.
The common intent across all Mister Mustache stories remains the same as when he was first imagined: to let children laugh at the silly blunders of an adult who should know better and empower them to be the ones correcting mistakes made.
Each time Mister Mustache does something wrong, the youngster has an opportunity to identify the error and tell him what he must do to make things right. We hope to provide a light-hearted, enjoyable reading and listening experience for adults and children alike—and to use a vocabulary suitable for early readers as well.
